The ‘Cutting Edge’ Table and Benches concept was created for the 2017 Toronto Interior Design Show, Ontario Wood pavilion. As Ontario Wood partners, shop116 was proud to exhibit a simple, modern design that showcased the natural beauty of locally sourced pine.
Our intent was to fabricate a table out of large, reclaimed pine boards without making it look like traditional heavy timber furniture. This was accomplished by creating a ‘cutting edge’ design with tapering edges at the top and legs.
When viewed from the front, the slim edge of the taper makes the table appear very thin. From the side the 6″ wide legs make the table appear solid and stable. The table is complemented by two ‘waterfall’ benches which conveniently tuck under the table and out of the way.
